PBS explores a very disturbing and often-overlooked event in American History with this documentary about the internment of innocent Japanese Americans during World War II. video During this time, over 110,000 Japanese Americans were forced from their homes and confined to military camps throughout the western half of the US. TIME OF FEAR focuses on two particular camps in southeast Arkansas, a nexus of poverty and racial tension. Exploring not only the experience of the Japanese American prisoners, but also that of the native Arkansans as they adjusted to the new strangers abruptly dropped in their community, TIME OF FEAR presents two sides of a climactic period in American race relations.
