Seconds from Disaster: A passenger plane crashes into the Potomac River in Washington, D.C. in January 1982--killing a total of 78 people. Delayed almost two hours due to blizzard conditions and freezing temperatures, the 737 plummets just one minute after take off--crushing four cars on the 14th Street Bridge and sinking into the icy river.
